This is a dress that I found yesterday while on a quick thrift-stop. In some lights it's yellow, but in my apartment, with its yellowish walls that affect colour in a funny way, it's pale peach. It is a crazy pleated thing, and would probably make an excellent maternity dress. I love it. It was marked $10 but I had a magical 30% off card, so it was a pretty sweet deal!
I have this bad habit of buying wholly impractical clothing, and since I have no occasion to wear this dress, I'm wearing it today as I putter around my apartment and get ready to do some sewing.
Pleats! <3
ReplyDeleteWhat a great find.
What a lovely find!
ReplyDeleteI hope you don't mind if I add you to my links list? :)
How pretty! Wearing pretty dresses while puttering around the house is always a plus :)
ReplyDeletelovely dress! it says 100 percent polyester in japanese.
ReplyDeleteoh that is lovely! I adore the pleats!
ReplyDeleteThank you all! And thank you, anonymous! I guess I shouldn't be surprised that it's polyester -- but I was hoping it was something nicer! Ah well, nice to know my dress is Japanese!
ReplyDeleteYes, the middle word says "po ri e su te ru". I'm afraid my kanji isn't good enough for the first word :)
ReplyDeleteAw, hee hee! I know no Kanji at all! I took out some of my Japanese sewing books to see if it was Japanese, but that's about as far as I could go.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love it!
ReplyDeleteit's the perfect hue
ReplyDeleteThose pleats are so good!!! I almost always dress up when I'm puttering around the house. It makes me feel like a 50s housewife!
ReplyDeleteThank you, thank you!
ReplyDeleteApril: Isn't it great? I love doing that. I figure there's no one around to give a funny look (except Oreo, and believe me, she gives me lots of funny looks). Also last night I made a turban, so I was 50s housewife to the maxxxx!
it says that the outer fabric (?) is 100% polyester (i'm guessing this dress is lined?). the tag on the right has some sort of warning, probably on washing procedures, but i can't read it :p
ReplyDeleteVV discount card goodness? I've noticed they introduced this new discount scheme, which I hope doesn't replace their wonderful 50% days. I hope they have another one soon. It's a zoo on those days... a heavily discounted zoo!
ReplyDeleteoh yes, and lovely dress! what a gorgeous colour. I feel like it belongs in a quaint british cottage next to delicate and elaborate china sets.
ReplyDeletei love the accordion pleats!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletei wish i was as lucky as you are when it comes to thrifting. i never find anything.

Thanks!
ReplyDeleteBee, yes, the VV discount card! In past years you could fill one up and get 50% off, but they've reduced it to 30%. Hard timezzz. I think the 50% off days are still around, although I always miss them!
Thanks, Melissa! That dress sure is cute but I don't think I have the right bod for dropwaist dresses. So sad, because I love flapper style.
Love the pleats and the colour!
ReplyDeleteIm in love with that peach colour lately
:)

ReplyDelete100% charming.
