moved

Geoff & I are all moved, although I think I'm going to need a few weeks to feel normal again. We did it ourselves and it took 14 hours. Luckily, we didn't have to spread it out over more days -- it's over. Our things are everywhere, in such a mess. But I am going to have a dedicated sewing room, and I am looking forward to setting it up.

I had to come in to work today, but earlier I had to rush home because Oreo was missing. Geoff said she wasn't in the apartment, and I panicked because there were workmen on the front porch, and maybe they had left the door open. I spent a while frantically looking around the neighbourhood, and decided to check the apartment one last time. There she was, on the bed, deeply bundled and sleeping soundly. She usually comes when we call, but she had burrowed so well into the blankets that she didn't hear (she was also a little traumatized by the move -- she does not go easily into her cage). Geoff was in the process of making up a "lost cat" poster!

Oreo has never been outside and doesn't have a collar. She's microchipped, but this is a cat who gets startled by loud noises. The cars and the kids in the park and the dogs would have terrified her. While looking for Oreo, Geoff and I met some of our neighbours -- we have kind, lovely, wonderful neighbours.

Otherwise, before all this happened, we walked down to Dundas to get some coffee and bagels, and I fell in love with the neighbourhood. I sat on the streetcar on my way to Yonge Street marvelling at this place that is just bursting with life.

I do have to admit that as much as I was unhappy with the location, I had a really hard time saying goodbye to our old apartment. I am going to miss how perfect it was, and how much sunshine it got. I cried for hours!

  2. It is hard and stressful to move! I have a great apartment in a bad house in a questionable neighbourhod, and I'm trying to decide what to do about it...

BTW, and I hope this doesn't sound creepy, but I've seen you and Geoff twice in the last week! You must be in my neighbourhood or something!

  3. Thanks, Hannah! It is exciting, but I hope to stay put for longer than 2 years this time. Phew!

Jennifer! Where have you seen us? I've been wearing the same thing pretty much all week and no makeup! Haha.

  4. I H.A.T.E. moving! I turn into a controlling ultra-bitch (surprising, I know ;P)! I'm glad to hear that you and Geoff are still a couple and that only minor (?) tears were shed. I will need your new address, my pretty!

  7. the very worst part is over! unpacking is my favorite, well except when you get to those last boxes, & as i move more & more boxes seem to stay unpacked up in a closet, why do i still drag so many things to never take outta a box xo
i'm glad your kitty is not lost too.

  13. Oh no, that must have been scary! I'm glad Oreo was okay. Cats and moving generally are not the best of friends. :)

  14. I am so glad Oreo is ok!! I don't know how my kitties would react if we moved. But that would be my biggest fear, losing our cats, during the move! Your new place looks so lovely! It looks like such a warm home!
