Anyhow, a few weeks ago we found out that Frankie magazine was no longer being distributed in Canada, and I was sad. A subscription costs more than buying the magazine at the newsstand, and it really is one of the few magazines that I love. I complained about this fact, this lack of distribution. A darling, Seattle-based girl who I have known online for a few years -- and who I've managed to keep in touch with a little bit via Twitter -- sent me a recent copy. I was thrilled to get my Frankie fix (it's been months!), but even better, she included a few extra treats. I adore this painting she made and sent to me. These are my favourite colours! Peach and grey and teal and deep red and slate blue and purple.
She's a little shy, and I hope I'm not embarrassing her too much. But thank you, thank you, Stephanie.
What a wonderfully sweet story! And such a beautiful painting - if Stephanie ever starts selling them online, I am sure she'll be an instant success!
ReplyDeletethat is very kind and thoughtful! and i agree with ms. neon! haha

ReplyDeleteI rarely comment here...actually I think I only have when there's been a giveaway! oh boy, shame on me!...I love your blog. I especially loved your post a while back about being a conscious shopper. That post really made me think, as I know it did for many other bloggers who re-posted what you said. What I mean to say is, I love what you post for it's face value, but also because who you are shines through immediately. You are someone I'd really choose to be friends with. Posts like this (giving a public thank you even though she's shy! sweet as all heck) just prove that to me. Keep up what you're doing Anabela. You have a great heart.
ReplyDeletethat painting is way beautiful
ReplyDeleteCaitlin: Funny that you mention digital Frankie- I was considering this as a present for Anabela (I already told her so nothing spoiled here). However, though our monitor is pretty good, nothing replaces the feeling of being to hold onto a real book or magazine. That said, we might go with the digital option anyway.
ReplyDeleteI'm blushing just a little but I it makes me happy to see the painting I made in its new home. A copy of Frankie and a small little gift is the least I can do for someone who is authentic, funny, smart, and open to sharing her art/life/treasures/awesomeness nearly everyday.
ReplyDeleteI love your blog. I found it inspiring. Thanks to you, I am discovering new stuff. How sweet the gift! I am happy for you. Have a good day!:0)
ReplyDeletevery nice, the printed image looks like pieces of falling glitter under a microscope or something!
