If you've seen me in the past two weeks, chances are I've been wearing a pink maxi skirt. I found it hiding behind some other skirts at the thrift store and probably gasped when I did. It has some (pretty unnoticeable) pen marks within its folds and it's made of polyester, but it was $6, so whatever. I'm really into it.
I got this beautiful belt as part of Matt of Wood & Faulk's belt making experiment. I love the natural leather colour so much I almost don't want to wear it in.
The sweatshirt I'm wearing was another thrift store purchase. I love the Lover Practice Roll sweatshirt (worn in the lookbook with a pink silk maxi skirt), but it is so incredibly beyond my means. I made my own version by cutting the sleeves and bottom elastic off a men's XL sweatshirt. It was a test for what I intend to do with another sweatshirt that I ordered last week in a moment of weakness (oh yes, I did order a cat face sweatshirt). I'll probably wear this one all the time anyway, like some kind of off-duty ballerina. Yeah right.
Here is another recent arrival into my life that I am thrilled about: the "Perfect Twist" poster by Debbie Carlos. We recently did a pretty cool trade and since I am so inspired by ice cream these days, I thought it was appropriate. It's four feet tall & I love it so. If I visited a house where this poster was on the wall, I would totally want to be friends with the people who lived there.
roberta jane: Ooh, hope you like it! So fun to experiment.
CARLY WAITO: Oh is that the one you wear? It looks so nice on you!
Laura: Don't worry about it. It's just something people apply before they apply foundation... apparently!
Darcy: That is such a pretty colour! As to red, I've heard for so long that "Ruby Woo" from MAC is the perfect red. I have a tube but I always feel like a clown in it. Ha.
galatea.: Hey, it sounds as though you've found something that works for you, and that's great!
Miss Moss: Oh, interesting! My mother never wore lipstick or any makeup, so I wonder how that's affected me. I certainly slathered it on when I was a teenager!
Miss Cris: Oh, lucky you! And for the record, nothing wrong with being a tomboy.
Ashley Ording: Oooh! I just looked up the NARS Niagara -- super pretty!
Up The Wooden Hills: Yes, definitely so fun! And thank you, I'm glad you think it looks nice because I've been wearing it a lot! I hope you'll share what you find after your lipstick hunt!
Caitlin: I never buy liners, but maybe I should. Hmm.
isabelle: Yes, I agree!
kater: I've heard that NARS' "Heat Wave" is great! It sounds like basically all NARS colours are great, though. I eat my lips too. In fact I ordered some lip scrub from Lush to exfoliate my lips and apparently you can eat it right off! So crazy.
Twiggs: Good luck! I hope you will find something that you love.
Lexie, Little Boat: I've tried a couple of Benefit products but I'm usually scared off by the price. Eek!
stephanie renee: Sweet! Hope you'll like it!
kathryn: Awesome, thanks for the tip! I love having things to hunt for.
Shin Ae: I just feel a bit like a clown in red, I guess! Although yeah, I've heard good things about stains, and I like this one Dior Addict red that I have that is more like a light glossy. I'm not sure about Prada lip balm! Out of my league!
Carissa: I agree!
Alyson Redding: Oh! I would have thought that would look very pretty!
Dianne: I bet you have things that are even better!
Tracey: I almost always pick lipstick based on the name, haha! Wall paint too.
Kempt: HA! I can relate to that! Good luck!
Kate: I can't imagine you without lipstick! You wear it so easily and so well, girl.
Elise / Pennyweight: Thank you, and I hope you like it on you too!
Diana: Oh, what a beautiful beginning to my lipstick journey!
m.bardeaux: HIRED! Yeah, I know what you mean about the smell, but I find it goes away quickly.
EvaForeva: Thank you! Hey, there is nothing wrong with knowing what works best for you. That's great!
Lisa: Thank you! And yes, that sounds like great advice.
Mari: Oh neat, looking forward to it!
Caitlin Rose: Ohhhh, such a lady! Haha!
blorange dice: But that's okay too!
Kayla Poole: I hope that's a good thing!
lady lyles: Ha! Is she on YouTube? I make such a MESS with eyeliner and eyeshadow. There's no point.
The Velvet Bow: A friend of mine is going to give me primer samples, ooh!
Alexandra Steinmetz - Champagne and Chiffon: Thank you!
Noemie: Thank you! I really do love coral tones, and I tend to prefer oranges that are a little more coral-y.
Katie: That's too bad! I got some of the Lush lip scrubs to exfoliate my lips -- who knew that was necessary?
fraisedesbois: Thank you so much! That's so funny about your mum -- she must have been such a glamourous lady! Wow. My mother never wears makeup. And yes, I agree about alternating depending on your mood! So fun.
hila: I don't think this lack of makeup expertise is anything to feel bad about, though! I personally feel happiest when I'm feeling confident enough to go forth into the world with only moisturizer on my face.
ana b.: Thank you! Oh, your lipsticks sound lovely -- I'll have to look at them in person. And yes, I agree! The names of makeup are so fun. Dream job for sure.
