WE heart handmade loot

Thank you to everyone who came by West Elm on Saturday for the Etsy event! It was a wonderful day, despite the morning's thunderstorms (which broke, revealing a very perfect spring day). I was so happy to meet so many of you and to see the incredible work of some talented locals in person.  Everyone's wares looked beautiful -- I could not have been more proud to have my name on the event's poster. Stephanie of Beaux Mondes posted some very lovely photos here.

I have quite a lot of pictures to plow through and many thank yous to write, but for now I thought I would share the things that I brought home with me. I didn't have the opportunity to do much browsing, unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately, really).

I have wanted one of Bre's scarves since the time that I became aware of her shop, but I didn't know which one I would like best. When I saw The Astral, I knew it was the one. This particular scarf has very delicate pastel tones which are difficult to capture in a photograph, but are so pretty in reality. I wore it immediately and received many compliments. (Tidbit time: when I was in high school I created a zine -- one copy, never distributed -- that I called "Astral." Ha.)

I also got the Dirk backpack from Wool Leather and Wood -- Odette is pretty much the nicest person ever and this backpack is perfect for bike rides! So summery and great.

  4. i was just looking at that very same astral scarf at her shop via your link to beaux mondes this morning. i'm kind of drooling all over it - it looks gorgeous! really wanted to make it to toronto (i'm in waterloo) but we're renovating and it's chaos right now. so glad it went well - naturally it would, with you curating and all. looking forward to seeing your pics, lady.

  5. It was a great event! I loved all the vendors you chose. I even made sure to tell the West Elm employees that I had come specifically for the event. More stores should this sort of thing.

  6. I was sad that I didn't get to walk around. I couldn't really leave my station, but it was probably better not to spend!!
