treats

Some treats for an unpleasant month (sorry, February babies). Katie-style.

Society 6 iPhone case, Nebula 3 by ThoughtCloud. The way I see it, I buy artwork for my walls, why not for something that I have on my person literally all day long? The case is really beautiful, although, sadly, it has already started chipping a bit along one of the edges.

Geoff & I aren’t really Valentine’s people, but I always feel compelled to get him something. This year I cheated and bought something both of us would want. I was walking past Soundscapes and I was happy to see both Blouse and Craft Spells records for sale because I had almost ordered these online. Plus free downloads, supporting my favourite music store, and beautiful art work! Sold. I gave them to Geoff over the weekend because I am not so good at surprises.

(The above picture was taken with the Diana lens that I had forgotten I owned.)

I’m going through a major Captured Tracks phase at the moment because I suspect that most of the bands on that label spent their formative years listening to the exact same music that I did. I can’t help but love nearly the entire label’s roster. It’s science, probably. A+ art department as well. Really into “Sleepwalking” by Cosmetics and “Harsh Realm” by Widowspeak.

A lucky find: deadstock vintage heart hoops. Rose petals on my fingers.

A shaggy, pretty hanging from Fleurlux, which I first spotted on Ashley Helvey’s blog.

An arrangement from Coriander Girl: always wonderful. Alison has just moved into a new, airy space that is so appropriately lovely for flower arranging.

  1. So jealous of your amazing iphones cases (the cat one!!). I ended up with an android phone (can't swallow the iphone bill and no one will give me a deal cause they are so popular) and there are zero cute cases out there for it.

    1. RIP cat case! It got so mangy and the ears got a little annoying after a while, haha. I guess I'm lucky to get a decent iPhone deal through work. Geoff is so jealous.

also, i need to visit coriander girl. i keep seeing these beautiful, delicate, perfectly-paired bouquets by her and wanting to cry from their perfection. c and i 'swapped' roles for v'day and so he gets all the gifties/flowers/etc. tomorrow, sigh. looks like i'm man-ing up and getting them for myself, heh.

    1. I really recommend a visit! Alison is lovely, and she will totally work with your budget. If you say "I'll have a $15 arrangement," that's what she'll do. It's great! Plus her flowers last forever, I find.

    1. I know, it is a bummer! But they're sending me a new one, which I hope will last longer (this one is still okay, just a tiny cosmetic issue really).

    1. Thanks for telling me that, because I tried writing to them and they are sending me a new one as well, which is great. Luckily the chips kind of blend in with this design, but it's still a bummer since I've only had it two weeks. I really do love this design like crazy!

  17. Aside from the beautiful, perfectly-14-Feb covers, I just added all of those albums to my spotify playlists. I'm halfway through Blouse and I really love it. I've been eyeing that iPhone case for a while too - sad that it's chipping so quickly, but it really is lovely. Also, three cheers for the heart hoops.

    1. Aahh, I wish we had Spotify in Canada! Glad you're enjoying Blouse -- I have that album on an endless loop these days. They're sending me a new case, so maybe I'll have better luck with that one? Here's hoping! It's such a pretty design.

  18. Beautiful things. And thank you for reminding me that I too have that Diana lens. I must dig it out. I wasn’t too impressed the first time I used it, so put it back in its box. After seeing your pictures, I think I should give it another chance. Have a lovely week :)

    1. Yeah, that lens is kind of a let-down, especially when you consider how expensive it is (for what it is) and how the same effect could be achieved with Photoshop. But I wanted to give it another chance!

  20. good idea to expose the works of art in things we use regularly and not leaving the art hanging on the wall ..

I didn't know there was a Diana lens. Would you recommend it?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. To be honest, I wouldn't. It doesn't do exactly what the Diana camera does, it just sort of makes the pictures blurry. You could do that with a Photoshop filter, if you have Photoshop. It's pretty expensive considering it's just a plastic lens. Might as well spend the money on an actual Diana+, even though film and developing are extra.
