behind the scenes: the sleeping beauty with daniel neuhaus

The National Ballet recently completed a run of The Sleeping Beauty, and Daniel Neuhaus sent me these beautiful behind the scenes photos that he took as the company prepared for these strenuous roles. I always love seeing the stage from his perspective since it’s so different from what one sees from the audience; the Ballet’s performances are always such a fine balance of artistry and control, but seeing dancers waiting to go on stage makes me see a hint of the nervous anticipation and excitement that must flow from the wings.

This production was the Ballet’s most expensive production, and they bid adieu to the season by announcing a number of dancer promotions. Congratulations to all of these talented dancers, and until the 2015/2016 season!

fortnight lingerie a/w 2015

Today I’m happy to share images from Fortnight Lingerie’s Autumn/Winter 2015 collection. As I have mentioned here before, I am absolutely smitten with this local lines’ shapes and silhouettes. The fabrics are gorgeous and my small collection of Fortnight is my most treasured one in my lingerie drawer. I’m loving the new slips in this collection!

From Fortnight: Staying true to a strong yet feminine aesthetic, the collection fuses Fortnight’s flawless fit and attention to technical details with the finest fabrics and finishes. Featuring a refined colour palette with updated neutrals, this season welcomes new fabrics that enhance Fortnight’s signature pieces. A graphic Rose Mesh is juxtaposed beautifully with black Jersey, resulting in a delicate yet assertive pairing. A new Tencel fabric, derived from beechwood fibre, is extremely soft and silky, which creates a beautifully natural drape. This season Fortnight also introduces a variety of new silhouettes for slips, allowing unlimited possibilities for enhancing the body and wardrobe. The Vega Slip features our signature Chevron Jacquard in an undeniably sleek, body contouring layering piece. The allure of the Ivy Slip comes from the delicate lace cups and lace cut-out detail at the back. This slip also offers an adjustable hook and eye closure, allowing for a more customized fit. The Faye Chemise is made from natural Tencel fabric and features a high neckline with deep cut armholes, which allows for unlimited layering potential.
